Celebrating a birthday in a new country

On November 2, 2011, our family was very proud to celebrate Davis' 12th birthday with him. It was lots of fun and a birthday that will long be remembered. Typically in the States we would have a family birthday party and a time to celebrate just the 4 of us together. Well, we had this this time as well. Even though they were not biological family they still feel like family. Davis chose some of our closest friends here in Thailand to celebrate our "family" birthday party on October 29 and it was great! They were all so kind and had prayed and waited on the Lord and each had a word from the Lord to encourage Davis and to affirm him in the fine young man that he is. A man that loves God and others. We had much food, fun and of course cake and ice cream! The 4 of us then were able to celebrate his birthday again on his actual birthday. Here are some pictures from the family birthday event.
This was the big kid table at the party!

Candles are difficult to find in Thailand. We could only find the number ones and they had no number 1. So we tried to cut off the end to help it look like a 1. It was Davis' idea so he was fine with it. So, he is not 72, but 12!

There was much excitement about eating the cake from these little ones!

After sharing all the kind words with Davis they all dog piled him and gave him a great big group hug!
